Kentucky Track & Field Returns to Action at Razorback Invite

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Kentucky Track & Field will return from a one-week hiatus this weekend, competing at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Action at the Randal Tyson Track Center is set for Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1 and will be streamed live on the SEC Network +.

In the initial USTFCCCA Track & Field Ratings Index Rankings, the Kentucky women checked in at No. 22, thanks in part to top ten marks from Kate Powers and Victoria Perrow. Powers’ school record weight throw of 22.63m/74-3.00 at the Vanderbilt Invite currently has the sophomore in a tie for fourth and helped her claim SEC Field Athlete of the Week honors on January 21. Perrow’s winning run of 7.25 seconds in the 60m at the McCravy Memorial is good enough for tenth. Two-time SEC Freshman of the Week Sharmelle Holmes is not far behind her teammate, ranking 11th in the 60m with an altitude-converted time of 7.26.

The Men’s squad enters the meet ranked No. 31, aided in large part by Carlie Makarawu’s nation-leading mark in the 200m. The junior transfer from New Mexico Junior College ran 20.48 seconds in his season debut in his signature event to win the Corky Classic. When converted to altitude, the Olympic finalist holds the top spot on the NCAA Indoor Qualifying List at 20.55@ seconds.

A full schedule of events and a list of Kentucky entries can be found below.

Following the weekend in Northwest Arkansas, the Cats will return to the track next Saturday, racing at the Fairgrounds Invitational at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis on February 8.
