Kentucky Diver Avery Giese Competes in 3-Meter Springboard Final at World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman Avery Giese is two for two so far this week after advancing to the 3-meter springboard final in her second event of the week at the 2024 World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Giese made the 1-meter springboard final yesterday finishing ninth overall.
The freshman finished 12th in the 3-meter springboard final with an overall score of 345.45. The California native proceeded to the final after placing 10th out of 41 divers in the prelims with a score of 374.85. Giese will conclude the competition with the 3-meter synchronized event tomorrow at noon.
Giese is a five-time USA Diving junior national champion winning the 1-meter championship in 2019 and 2023, the 3-meter championship in 2024, and the 3-meter synchronized championship in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, she took silver at the 2023 Junior Pan American Championships in the 1-meter and 3-meter synchronized events. This will be Giese’s sixth appearance representing the junior national team.
