LEXINGTON, Ky. – Todd Tackett, who sat out last season to rehabilitate an injured knee, has decided to leave the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team, Coach Tubby Smith announced Wednesday. The 6-1 guard from Paintsville, Ky. has decided to pursue a professional baseball career.
“Todd has a dream to play pro baseball, and he feels now is the time to pursue that career,” Smith said. “We wish him the best of luck.”
Tackett, who had two years of eligibility remaining, saw action in 26 games during his sophomore season of 1999-2000, averaging 0.9 points and 0.6 rebounds per game.
