Women’s Soccer Face Vanderbilt in Nationally Televised Matchup

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s soccer (10-1-3, 2-1-3) looks to continue making history this season as they head down I-65 to Nashville, Tennessee to take on Vanderbilt (6-2-5, 1-2-3) on Sunday, October 13th at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT. The match will be televised on SEC Network.

After reaching double-digit wins for the first time since the 2014 season and the highest number of wins (10) since taking over the program in 2022, Troy Fabiano is also on the brink of a personal milestone. Should the Wildcats win on Sunday, it will mark his 350th career win as a head coach.

The Wildcats enter the match after earning their second straight Southeastern Conference victory of the season, defeating LSU 2-1 at home Thursday evening in a thriller. An early goal from Makala Woods and a late winner from Alexis Tylenda handed Kentucky all three points and has the team tied for sixth in the standings with nine points from six conference games. The Wildcats also remain undefeated at home this season with an 8-0-2 record.

Vanderbilt enters the match after earning their first SEC victory of the season defeating Texas A&M (8-6-0, 3-3-0) 2-0 on the road. The away side scored once in each half with just four shots on goal. The Commodores are led by forwards Sydney Watts and Rachel Deresky. Watts has six goals, one assist, and 13 points this season while Deresky has five goals, four assists, and 14 points.

Vanderbilt narrowly leads the all-time series with an 18-16-2 record while Kentucky has a 6-9-1 away record against the Commodores. The Wildcats last traveled to Music City on September 22nd, 2022, where they lost 0-2. The previous meeting between the two teams came on October 8th, 2023, where Kentucky won 2-0.
