Men’s Soccer Prepares for Conference Contest at South Carolina
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s soccer (1-2-4, 0-0-2 Sun Belt) is set to continue its Sun Belt Conference road trip with a match at RV South Carolina (6-1-2, 1-1 Sun Belt) for a 7 p.m. EST Friday matchup at Stone III Stadium.
The Wildcats have earned two points since beginning conference play drawing 0-0 against Georgia Southern and No. 7 West Virginia. Junior goalkeeper and Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Ryan Jack, has earned a clean sheet in both contests to shut out the first two conference opponents.
The Gamecocks, who received votes in the latest Unites Soccer Coaches poll, enter Friday’s match with one conference loss to No. 5 Marshall, 1-2, and a 2-1 Sun Belt win at Coastal Carolina.
Kentucky and South Carolina hold an all-time series record of 12-8-4 (UK) with the first contest taking place in 1991. The conference rivals last went head-to-head in Lexington during the 2023 regular season which resulted in a 1-0 win for the Gamecocks.
Friday’s matchup is historically dubbed the unofficial men’s soccer Southeastern Conference Championship.
