Kentucky Men’s Golf Travels to Bearcat Invitational
CINCINNATI – Competing for the second time in as many weeks, Kentucky men’s golf continues its fall campaign at the Bearcat Invitational this Monday and Tuesday at Coldstream Country Club (Par 71, 7,279 yards).
The University of Cincinnati will host a field of 17 teams for their annual home event, which UK has played five times previously, the last coming in 2022. The 54-hole tournament will feature 36 holes of action on Monday, beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Tuesday’s final round will also start at 9 a.m.
The Wildcats took ninth at the Folds of Honor Collegiate last week in their fall opener, finishing the tournament at 28-over par. Jansen Preston and Jack Schoenberger each posted top 20 finishes, with Preston picking up the highest finish of his college career at T16. The senior captain fired back-to-back even-par 71s in rounds two and three to better his previous career-best finish of T19. Schoenberger, a transfer from Belmont, continued his top 20 streak in his first event as a Wildcat. The Alpharetta, Georgia native posted a 5-over total to tie for 19th. He has now finished inside the top 20 in each of his last 15 starts, a streak which dates back to his freshman season in 2022-2023.
Preston and Schoenberger are slotted atop the Wildcat starting five once again, while Jackson Klutznick and Gavin Clutts are also set to make their second starts of the season. Klutznick, the 2023-24 Division III Nicklaus Award winner, was T60 at the Folds of Honor, bouncing back from an opening round 82 with rounds of 75 and 74. The freshman Clutts contributed two counting scores in his first collegiate event, eventually finishing T42 at 12-over for the tournament. Rounding out the starting lineup for the Blue and White in Cincinnati is freshman Jacob Lang, who will make his first collegiate appearance.
Kentucky will be paired with UCF, Chattanooga and Kansas for the opening day of action, starting round one on holes Nos. 5-8. Pairings and live scoring are available for fans here.
