Wildcats Conclude Fall Action at Steelwood Country Club

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky men’s golf team travels to Loxley, Alabama to compete in the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational to conclude fall action. The Wildcats are coming off a strong performance in its last outing with three players racking up top-10 individual finishes, and are aiming to conclude fall play in positive fashion.

“This is the first year of the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational. Steelwood Country Club is a terrific test of golf and should be in perfect shape for the event. It is our last tournament of the fall and we are ready to play and end this semester on a positive note.”
About the Lineup:
The starting lineup will feature sophomores Fred Allen Meyer and Lukas Euler, juniors Tyler “Chip” McDaniel and Cooper Musselman, and senior Stephen Stallings. Sophomore Fadhli Soetarso will compete as an individual.
Musselman enters the weekend following a career-best finish at the Kenny Perry Invitational. The junior nabbed his first career top-five finish, second-career top-10 finish, and third top-20 finish of the fall season. His tournament was capped by a stellar final round that featured five birdies to lead to a 4-under par, 68.
Meyer, a Nicholasville, Kentucky, native, matched his career-low round with a final 18-hole score of 69 at the Kenny Perry Invitational en route to the first top-10 finish of his career after finishing in eighth place. The sophomore comes into the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational with the third lowest 18-hole score on the team, and is also the third of three individuals on the team to shoot sub-70.
McDaniel is ready for his next tournament after finishing in the top 10 in the last two events for the Wildcats. He holds the team low 54-hole score of 212, 18-hole score of 67, and leads the team in scoring average at a sold 72.1.
Stallings looks to improve his play from the last outing after finishing in a tie for 32nd. The veteran is third on the team in scoring average at 73.1 with the third highest individual finish of the season after coming in seventh place back at the Bearcat Invitational.
Euler is seeing his first action since the opening weekend of the season. The sophomore from Germany finished in a tie for 18th after compiling rounds of 72 and 74 at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate.
Soetarso finished in the top 30 at the Kenny Perry Invitational, his second event of the season, after finishing in 23rd at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate.
The Tournament Field:
Eleven teams make up this year’s field: Cincinnati, DePaul, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Lamar, Rice, Richmond, South Alabama, South Florida, Southern Mississippi, and Western Kentucky.
About the Course:
Designed by former U.S. Open Champion Jerry Pate, Steelwood Country Club has been rated as one of the best courses in Alabama by GolfDigest. This scenic course is centered on Steelwood Lake, holds Bermuda grass, and provides many perplexing shots throughout its 7,096 yards.
The event will begin with 36 holes on Saturday at a 9:30 a.m. ET and a shotgun start. The final round will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET on Sunday with participants going off holes one and 10. Fans looking to follow the action can find live results on Golfstat.
