Women’s Soccer Welcomes In-State Foe Morehead State

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s soccer (1-0-0) looks to keep a fantastic start to the season going as they welcome in-state foe Morehead State (0-0-1) to “The Bell” Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The Wildcats kicked off the 2024 campaign on Thursday evening with a 2-0 victory over Central Michigan.

Four fantastic freshmen dominated on Thursday night as they powered Kentucky to victory. Sydni Fink and Alexis Tylenda scored their first collegiate goals while Ashley Mekitarian and Anna Sikorski tallied their first collegiate assists on their collegiate debuts. The victory also marked the third straight season-opening win for Head Coach Troy Fabiano since taking the position in 2022.

Morehead State enters the match after tying Marshall 1-1 in their season opener away from home. The Herd scored after just 10 minutes of play before the Eagles tied things up in the 40th minute. The game remained scoreless in the second half with the Eagles outshooting The Herd 9-8 overall.

Pom Poms will be given away to the first 250 fans in attendance on Sunday night. Season tickets for all Kentucky soccer men’s and women’s home games can be purchased here, while single-game tickets are available here. The game will also be available on SECN+.
