LEXINGTON, Ky. – Head coach Craig Skinner announced the completion of the 2017 recruiting class on Monday. Libero Gabby Curry (Buford, Georgia), setter Madison Lilley (Overland Park, Kansas), middle blocker Kendyl Paris (Hilliard, Ohio) and outside hitter Avery Skinner (Katy, Texas) are slated to join the Wildcats in the fall of 2017.
The class features four recruits ranked in the top-100 seniors by Prep Valleyball and three that are ranked among the top 50. All four are AVCA Under Armor High School All-Americans. The signees have all won at high levels, including four state championships, two all-state selections, a state player of the year and two Team USA members.
“Our 2017 class is not just a great group of athletes, but a great group of people,” Skinner said. “They have quickly become a part of our culture throughout the recruiting process, and have fully embraced the values and goals of the program. Their athleticism speaks for itself and we are looking forward to meshing their talents in with our returning players. They have all been winners on the court and will compete hard to help elevate this program to new heights.”
Every member of the class was named an Under Armour Girls High School All-American. Curry and Lilley were named to the first team, Paris was named to the second team and Skinner was named to the third team. The members of the first team will play in the Under Armour All-America match on Dec. 16 in conjunction with the Final Four at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Only 24 players earn the honor to play in this prestigious event.
