Gymnastics Faces Friday Road Test in Arkansas
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 6 Kentucky gymnastics (7-2, 4-1 SEC) will travel to Fayetteville to face No. 16 Arkansas (5-5-1, 2-2-1 SEC) for a Friday Night Heights matchup in Barnhill Arena at 8:30 p.m. EST.
The Wildcats are coming off a home win over No. 24 BYU, 197.775-196.600. SEC Gymnast of the Week, Raena Worley, scored her first perfect 10.0 on bars as she won her 13th individual title on the apparatus. Worley also tallied her 22nd victory on floor and 26th all-around title.
As a team, Kentucky recorded its second-best floor score in program history (49.675) after setting a new top tally one week prior against No. 13 Missouri (49.750). The Cats are currently ranked No. 3 in the nation on the event while also holding the No. 1 vault ranking for the fourth consecutive week.
The Razorbacks enter Friday’s contest after a second-place finish at the Texas Women’s University Quad Meet where they took on SEC opponent Alabama, TWU, and Arizona. Arkansas tallied a 197.375 which was the second-highest overall score recorded so far in the 2024 season.
The most recent regular season matchup between Kentucky and Arkansas took place last season in Memorial Coliseum where UK was victorious 197.875-195.400. The two programs last competed in Barnhill Arena in the 2021 season where the Cats also came out on top 197.000-196.675.
