LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Doneeka Hodges sank a jumper from the free-throw line with 23 seconds left as No. 14 LSU won its 14th straight game, beating Kentucky 70-69 on Sunday.
Hodge’s basket gave the Tigers (15-2, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) a 70-67 lead. Sara Potts hit a shot to pull the Wildcats within one with four seconds left.
Temeka Johnson missed a free throw with 2.3 seconds remaining, but fought Potts for the rebound and bounced the ball off Potts’ leg and out of bounds. LSU successfully inbounded the ball as time expired.
Seimone Augustus led LSU with 20 points and nine rebounds.
Potts had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead Kentucky (8-8, 0-3). Jenny Pfeiffer scored 14, but had only three points in the second half.
LSU played without Coach Sue Gunter, who missed the game because of the flu.
