The Kentucky swimming and diving team returned to action Tuesday and picked up a pair of victories against Clemson.
The Kentucky women (3-2, 1-1 SEC) had a resounding win over Clemson 137-106, while the men (2-1, 0-1 SEC) edged out the Tigers 125-118.
The women received another strong performance from sophomore Lindsay Myhre who led the team with victories in three different events. Myhre, the Aurora, Colo., native finished first in the 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke and 100 IM. In the Cats last meet against Arkansas, Myhre also led the team with two wins.
Kentucky sophomores Heather and Jenny Bradford also showed no rust from the month long break by registering wins in two events a piece. Heather took first in the 50 and 100 butterfly, while Jenny claimed victory in the 50 and 100 freestyle events.
On the men?s side, the hard fought victory was attained in large parts by the efforts of sophomore Kristian Outinen, as well as seniors Daniel Farnham and Steven Manley.
Outinen, a native of Copenhagen, Denmark, led the men with three victories. Outinen finished first in the 50 and 100 breaststroke events, as well as in the 100 IM.
Returning All-America Farnham continued to show he is one of the nation?s best freestyle swimmers by once again notching wins in the 50 and 100 events.
Fellow senior and returning All-America Manley helped the Cats sweep the freestyle swims by capturing the 200 and 500 events.
The Cats will continue their busy week on Friday when they head to Athens, Ga., to take on Southeastern Conference rival Georgia at 11 a.m. EST. Kentucky will then travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Saturday to take on SEC foes LSU and Alabama.
