LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior Campbell Kremer and redshirt freshman Solomon Petrie, members of the Kentucky men’s golf team, will be teeing it up starting Monday at the 2023 U.S. Amateur in Colorado. The opening two rounds of stroke play will be played Monday and Tuesday at both Cherry Hills Country Club and Colorado Golf Club, with the top 64 competitors participating in match play starting Wednesday at Cherry Hills.
Kremer, who competed in all 10 team events this past season, ranked third on the team with a 73.67 scoring average in his junior campaign. The Louisville, Kentucky, native also sat third on the team with eight par-or-better rounds and 24.3 team-counted rounds. Kremer carded rounds of 68 and 69 to finish second at 5-under in the qualifier at Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State in Normal, Illinois. This will mark Kremer’s second time participating in a U.S. Amateur, also qualifying a year ago out of Weibring Golf Club.
Petrie, from Akron, Ohio, redshirted his opening season this year in Lexington. A First-Year SEC Honor Roll selection, Petrie went 73-65 to finish in a tie for second at 4-under before besting fellow Wildcat Alex Goff in a playoff at Moraine Country Club in Dayton, Ohio.
The 2023-24 Wildcats get their season started Sept. 4 at the Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Michigan.
