Wildcats Take Fourth at Cullan Brown Collegiate
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s golf finished in fourth place at 3-over par as play concluded at the 2026 Cullan Brown Collegiate on Tuesday at Lexington Country Club (par 71, 7255 yards).
The Wildcats earned their spot in the top third of the 15-team field, marking the highest finish for the team so far this fall. Gavin Clutts, Jacob Lang and Cameron Phillips all posted top 20 finishes in UK’s home event, with all three players ending the tournament at par-or-better.
After a 3-under opening round, and a 2-under total in round two, Kentucky was 8-over par over the final 18 holes. The Cats finished one shot behind NC State in third and three shots behind team runner-up, Mississippi State.
Tennessee took home the team title with a 22-under par total, while the Volunteers’ Christian Pardue and Vanderbilt’s Carlos Astiazaran shared individual honors at 9-under par.
“It’s always special hosting at home, especially at a place like Lexington Country Club,” head coach Gator Todd said. “We’re thankful to have such a great tournament and honor the late Cullan Brown.
“Team wise, it was a disappointing finish to the week. I thought our guys really hung in there and we had different guys step up yesterday, but it’s hard to outrun where we are as a team when two of our top players struggle like they did today. We’re just not quite built for that, but I do think we are learning and getting better.”
Kentucky’s top finisher this week was Clutts, who competed as an individual and finished tied for 12th at 1-under par. Clutts led the 88-player field with 43 pars over 54 holes, while making just five total bogeys and playing the par 5s in 5-under par. The result marked the fifth top 20 finish for Clutts in his college career.
Lang and Phillips each tied for 18th at even par total. Lang fought back to post an even-par final round by making an eagle on his final hole of the day, No. 18 (par 5, 571 yards). It marks the second-straight top 20 for the junior, who tied for sixth at the Windon Memorial Classic last week. Phillips secured his best finish of the season, ending the week with a 73 (+2) in round three. He had five birdies in the final round, giving the sophomore a team-high 11 birdies on the week, tied for the ninth most in the field.
Gabriel Hull and Cole Stockard both struggled on the final day, carding rounds of 79 (+8) and 77 (+6), respectively. Hull would place T42 at 5-over par, while Stockard followed in a tie for 45th at 6-over.
Jacob Settles had his best round of the tournament with an even par card of 71 on Tuesday, highlighted by back-to-back birdies on No. 17 (par 4, 466 yards) and No. 18 (par 5, 571 yards). Settles placed T65 at 11-over par overall.
Freshman Bradford Lacefield finished T42 as an individual in his college debut with a 5-over par total, while senior Luke Coyle was 62nd at 9-over.
Kentucky will conclude the fall portion of its schedule at the Williams Cup, Oct. 18-20 at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, North Carolina.
