Josh Sobota Selected to College Sports Communicators Academic All-America First Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky track & field 2023 graduate Josh Sobota has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America First Team following Academic All-District honors in late May.

Academic All-District honorees advanced to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Sobota was joined on the All-District team by nine other UKTF Wildcats.

Sobota, who recently graduated with a master’s in Sport, Fitness & Recreation Management, has shown versatility in the throwing pits and in the classroom. He earned a 4.0 GPA in his master’s degree program all while competing in two of four throwing disciplines – shot put & discus throw.

This is the third straight year Sobota has been named an Academic All-American after making the second team in 2020 & 2021. Sobota holds the school record in the shot put with a personal best throw of 67’/20.42 meters which earned him bronze at the 2023 SEC Outdoor Championships.

Sobota will be representing the Wildcats at the 2023 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships on July 6-9 for a chance to qualify for the World Championships.
