Tim Hall, Masai Russell Win USTFCCCA Outdoor Regional Awards
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky track & field Associate Head Coach Tim Hall and graduate Masai Russell earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Southeast Region awards this afternoon for their achievements during the outdoor season.
The Southeast Region is comprised of 35 Division I schools in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Kentucky.
Hall was named the Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year and Russell was named the Women’s Track Athlete of the Year.
This is the 12th time Hall has won a men’s or women’s Regional Assistant Coach of the Year award from the USTFCCCA, eight of which have come at Kentucky.
In his fifth season at Kentucky, Hall guided the Wildcats to seven entries at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Under his direction, he coached the women’s 4×100 meter relay team to a runners-up finish, earning the team the first medals of the championships. His squad performed in multiple events at the NCAA Outdoor Championships that earned the team 12 of their 28 points in their sixth place finish. His expertise led the team to 10 USTFCCCA All-America recipients and one new school and freshman record in the 100 meter dash this year.
Russell, who hails from Potomac, Maryland, earned three runners-up medals at the NCAA Outdoor Championships scoring 18.75 of the team’s 28 total points in their sixth place finish. Her achievements at the NCAA Outdoor Championships earned her four USTFCCCA First-Team All-America honors. Her collegiate record time of 12.36 in the 100-meter hurdles set at the Texas Relays earlier this year still stands and has earned her seven straight nominations to the Bowerman Watchlist.
