Collins Kiprop Kipngok Takes Fourth in the Steeplechase Final on Day Three in Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. – The Kentucky Wildcats completed day three of the 2026 NCAA Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. today, concluding the men’s portion of the event schedule.

After finishing fifth in last season’s final, Collins Kiprop Kipngok nearly broke his UK record time to place fourth in the men’s 3000m steeplechase final with a time of 8:22.80. The Wildcat sophomore features as the lone point scorer on the men’s side for Kentucky, getting the team on the board with five points.

At the top of the day, Julia Gunnell began her run in the women’s heptathlon competition, posting personal best marks in the 100m hurdles and high jump events.  She started the day off with a sixth-place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.69 and finished with a 10th-place finish in the 200m. Heading into Saturday, the Wildcat junior currently sits in 13th place with 3,469 total points, currently on track to break his career-best mark.

In the men’s triple jump final, SEC bronze medalist Theo Mudzengerere completed his first season with the Wildcats by placing 16th with a final mark of 15.85m/52-0.

The NCAA Championships and the 2026 season will conclude tomorrow with the final rounds of the women’s track events, along with Gunnell completing her run in the heptathlon and Kemarah Howard competing for a national title in the women’s high jump final.
