LEXINGTON ? Kentucky junior Ryan Strieby has been named a Louisville Slugger first-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, the publication announced Friday.
The Southeastern Conference Player of the Year, Strieby was tabbed an All-American by the College Baseball Foundation last week. The Brier, Wash., native is hitting .344 this season with 20 home runs and a school-record 77 RBIs, which are also tops in the SEC. He also led the conference in on-base percentage, slugging percentage and doubles.
With Strieby anchoring the lineup, Kentucky had one of the most explosive offenses in the country, averaging more than 8.2 runs per game. He paced an extra-hit barrage that ranked in the top five in the country in home runs, doubles and slugging percentage.
Strieby is the first Wildcat to earn All-America honors since John Wilson in 1999 and is the 13th All-American in school history.
Collegiate Baseball has been exclusively covering college baseball for more than 40 years and naming an All-America team since 1984.
