TULSA, Okla. — Mathew Baum found the back of the net in the 64th minute and the 14th-ranked Kentucky soccer team went on to a 1-0 road win at Conference USA foe Tulsa on Wednesday night.

Off a free kick from the right side, Michael D’Agostino served up a perfect ball that Baum headed home for his first goal of the season. The win moved UK into a second-place tie in the league with South Carolina. At 11-4-2 overall and 4-2-1 in C-USA, Kentucky is currently second in the league with South Carolina, but UK holds the tiebreaker based on a 1-0 overtime win over the Gamecocks earlier this year.

In the game, the Wildcats dominated the first half but settled for a scoreless draw at the break. In the opening 45, UK had eight shots to three and won eight corners to just two for the Golden Hurricane.

For the contest, UK put eight shots on goal to just one for Tulsa while also earning more corners. Goalkeeper Matt Troop made a single save to earn his first clean sheet of the year in three starts. It would be his second, but he was pulled 75 minutes into a shutout earlier this year.

Kentucky returns to action on Saturday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Memphis on Senior Night at the UK Soccer Complex. The Wildcats are 9-1 at home this year and have an outside shot at clinching the Conference USA championship with a win.
