Wildcats Take Business Trip to Florida for Friday Matchup
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 12 Kentucky gymnastics will travel to Gainesville, Fla. to take on the No. 2 Gators Friday at 6 p.m. EST in the Exactech Arena at Stephen C. O’Connell Center.
The Wildcats are coming off its most successful meet to date with a 197.875 overall meet score which set a new program record. UK also set a new program best on vault with a 49.500 overall tally. In addition to the two program records, the Cats also tied its second-best floor score with a 49.600.
Kentucky defeated Arkansas to improve its record to 7-2 with four wins in the Southeastern Conference so far in the 2023 campaign. Last Friday’s victory was the fourth of the five home meet schedule with the final home meet to still take place next week.
Last Friday’s standouts included SEC Co-Specialist of the Week Arianna Patterson who set a new all-time high on floor with a near-perfect 9.975, 9.950 on vault and 9.900 on the balance beam. Senior Raena Worley earned her 18th all-around title which included a 9.950 on floor and a 9.925 on the uneven bars. Beam Queen Isabella Magnelli received a strong 9.950 on the balance beam with junior Bailey Bunn setting a new season best on bars with a 9.900. Hailey Davis rocked the floor with a 9.925 routine as well.
The Gators are coming off a tough loss to No. 8 LSU in Baton Rouge, La. which resulted in a 197.975-198.100 overall finish.
Kentucky and Florida last went head-to-head in the 2022 regular season in Lexington which resulted in a UK loss, 196.875-197.500.
