EAST HAMPTON, NEW YORK – Late in the second round at the Hamptons Intercollegiate, the Kentucky men’s golf team sits in third at 25-over-par after play concluded Monday at Maidstone Club. The Cats are one of four teams still left to finish second-round play after a windy and rainy day in East Hampton, New York.
Virginia has completed its first two rounds in the lead, followed by Yale, Kentucky and Utah. The Cats, Utes, Penn and Georgetown will conclude second-round play starting at 7:45 a.m. ET Tuesday before final-round play gets underway.
With one hole left to play in his second round, graduate Garrett Wood is tied for fifth at 3-over-par. The Mason, Ohio, native opened with a 4-over-par 76 but has used a birdie and an eagle to sit at 1-under on his second round with the par-4 18th hole to play.
Junior Campbell Kremer opened with six birdies en route to a 2-over 74 and is 3-over in a tie for 10th through 12 holes in his second round while senior Alex Goff carded a 5-over 77 Monday morning and is 5-over through 14 in his second round in a tie for 28th. Kremer still has three par-5 holes to play while Goff will play two more Tuesday morning after the Cats have played the par-5’s in 1-under through the first day of play.
Freshman Andrew Clark bounced back from a tough opening round to card three birdies in his second round to post a 3-over 75 to tie for 39th through two complete rounds while graduate Dhaivat Pandya had an up-and-down day, opening with a 4-over 76 but struggled in the afternoon and is tied for 52nd with a round to play.
Playing as an individual, freshman Kevin Watts responded with a 4-over 76 in his second round to sit in a tie for 44th.
