BIO

Keith Towbridge was hired on Will Stein’s inaugural staff in 2026 as the assistant running backs coach. He came to the Bluegrass after spending the 2025 season at Bethune-Cookman where he was the co-special teams coordinator and tight ends coach.

During his time at Bethune-Cookman, Towbridge helped mentor and develop multiple contributors across offense and special teams, including tight end Myles Morales, wide receiver/kick returner Javon Ross, punter Max Tulen and long snapper Cole Hash.

Morales notched career highs with 16 catches for 171 yards and one touchdown in his lone season under Towbridge. Ross earned first-team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference accolades as well as first-team FCS and HBCU All-America honors as a kick returner, averaging 33.7 yards per return with two scores. His two touchdowns, along with 1,275 all-purpose yards, were the most of any player in the SWAC.  Additionally, he finished with 52 catches for 685 yards and four receiving touchdowns and had 84 rushing yards with one rushing score.

Tulen’s 44.6 yards per punt led the SWAC, and he was able to pin the ball inside the 20-yard line on 10 different occasions. His 10 punts of 50+ yards was 4th in the league. He was named first-team All-SWAC and was an HBCU All-American by BOXTOROW.

Hash was a first-team All-SWAC member as a long snapper. He finished the season with two total tackles and was a key component in B-CU’s top-ranked punting unit. He handled field goal and punting duties without error in his first year while helping his team not allow any blocked kicks.

Before Bethune-Cookman, Towbridge spent the 2024 season at Purdue, where he was the assistant tight ends coach.

With the Boilermakers, he coached Max Klare, who earned a spot on the John Mackey Award watch list and was named a third-team All-Big 10 performer after leading the team in catches (51), receiving yards (685) and receiving touchdowns (4). The Boilermakers’ tight ends unit, consisting of Klare, Drew Biber and George Burhenn, emerged as one of the most productive in the nation. Towbridge also assisted with special teams, helping Purdue field one of college football’s top-performing special teams units.

Towbridge began his coaching career in 2020 as the offensive coordinator at Western High School in Louisville, Kentucky. Before that, he was the tight ends/co-offensive coordinator for four seasons at Christian Academy of Louisville (CAL), helping lead the squad to a 3-AAA state title in back-to-back seasons in 2022 and 2023.

Towbridge’s connection to Louisville began as a four-year letterwinner and two-time team captain as a tight end for the Cardinals from 2013–16. During his time there, he was first introduced to Kentucky head coach Will Stein, who served as a graduate assistant and quality control coach at Louisville from 2013–14.

Towbridge played in 43 games during his career at UofL, totaling 21 receptions for 283 yards and three touchdowns. He participated in four bowl games for the Cardinals (Russell Athletic Bowl, Belk Bowl, Music City Bowl and Citrus Bowl) and was a key cog on the 2016 Cardinals’ team, which finished 9-4 overall, 7-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and ranked 13th nationally in the final College Football Playoff ranking.

He graduated from Louisville in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in communication before declaring for the NFL Draft. He later signed with the Buffalo Bills as a free agent, and over the next three years, he was a part of the Bills, Tennessee Titans and Washington Commanders organizations.

Towbridge was a 2013 graduate and standout two-sport athlete at Central Catholic High School in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. The three-time team captain helped the Fighting Irish win the 2012 football state championship after leading the basketball team to its first final four appearance since 1949 during the 2010-11 season.

Towbridge was inducted into the Central Catholic High School Hall of Fame in 2023.

He and his wife, Brittanie, have one son – Keaton.
