Credential Requests
Requests for single-game credentials should be made as far in advance as possible.

For men’s basketball and football single-game credentials, request must be made five days prior to game day online at Sports Systems.
For all other sports, please contact the Communications/PR Director of that sport (see staff directory) at least 24 hours prior to game day.
Media covering all UK sports are subject to SEC credential policy https://clients.sportssystems.com/clients/seccredentials/

Credential Criteria
The University of Kentucky’s decision to issue credentials to a media outlet for the purposes of covering a Kentucky athletics event is determined by a variety of factors. They include the following:

Amount of coverage given to Kentucky throughout the season
Intention/ability to cover all 22 sports at Kentucky
Compliance with SEC media policy
Distribution/size of publication: free, subscription, sale on newsstands, website traffic, etc.
Radio or TV station program format and size of audience
Length of existence of the publication, amount of original copy generated, number of full-time employees of the publication and the journalistic experience of the reporter(s)
Attendance at Kentucky media sessions, including Olympic sport opportunities
Space availability
Professionalism, which includes but is not limited to conduct at games, press conferences, practices, on social media, etc.

The University of Kentucky has the right to deny or revoke credentials under its own discretion.

Interview Policies

All interviews with University of Kentucky student-athletes or staff members must be arranged through the Athletics Communications and Public Relations office. Media should never contact a player or coach directly.

In general, athlete and staff interviews are conducted prior to or after practices, after contests or by phone.

All pre-contest and telephone interviews must be made at least 24 hours in advance through the Communications and Public Relations office. Interviews will be scheduled when student-athletes and staff’s schedules allow.

For post-event interviews, there is generally a 10- to 20-minute cooling off period. Interviews will either be conducted on the playing field or at a press conference, depending on the sport.

Playing fields, team locker rooms and other team quarters are private team areas. Media members are not permitted in these areas unless accompanied by appropriate University personnel.

Attending Practice
Kentucky practices will be closed to the media unless otherwise specified by the Communications & PR office. We will accept requests from media to attend practice.

Upon entering any practice facility, cell phones must be on silent. Guidelines for video, still photography and social media during practice will vary depending on the sport.

Accessing Publicity Photos / Logos / Video

Media members wishing to obtain photos and logos for UK Athletics should contact the Athletics Communications and Public Relations director of the sport (see staff directory for sport assignments). Special photo galleries for media access are available following many events.
