Cole Stockard Leads Men’s Golf on Day One in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Sophomore Cole Stockard posted two under-par rounds as Kentucky men’s golf began its 2026-27 season by completing 36 holes on Monday at the Visit Knox Collegiate.

The Wildcats were 12-over as a team on day one at Fox Den Country Club (par 70, 6962 yards), carding 6-over par as a group in both the first and second rounds. The Cats are positioned in 17th place with 18 holes still to play on Tuesday.

Leading the way for UK, Stockard is tied for 18th individually among a field of 96 players. The native of Dalton, Georgia fired consecutive 1-under par rounds on Monday to sit at 2-under through 36 holes. He made seven birdies on the day to lead the Wildcats.

Junior Gavin Clutts also played consistently, registering back-to-back rounds of 71 (+1) to put himself in a tie for 44th. Clutts made 31 total pars on the day, tied for the most of any player in the field.

Jacob Settles, like Clutts and Stockard, was a counting score for the team in both rounds one and two. He finds himself at 5-over par at day’s end and tied for 63rd.

Also in the clubhouse at 5-over par is senior Luke Coyle, who is competing as an individual this week. Coyle opened with a 75 (+5) before putting together an even-par effort of 70 during the afternoon loop.

Gabriel Hull, making his Kentucky debut, is tied for 80th at 8-over total, while Jacob Lang is tied for 92nd at 12-over par.

Chattanooga holds the team lead at 8-under par after the opening day of action. The Mocs’ Evan Rogers is the individual leader at 6-under par.

Kentucky will be off hole No. 10 on Tuesday for the final round of play, grouped with Indiana, Louisville and Virginia Tech. Tee times will be from 9:49 – 10:33 a.m.
