Jacob Lang to Compete at NCAA National Championship

CARLSBAD, Calif. – Kentucky men’s golf sophomore Jacob Lang will represent the Wildcats at the 2026 NCAA Men’s Golf National Championship, May 29 – June 1, at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa’s North Course (par 72, 7,538 yards). He will be the first Wildcat to tee it up at the national championship since the team qualified in 2018.

Lang is one of six qualifying individuals joining a field of 30 teams for the national championship event. The tournament will consist of 54-holes of stroke play, Friday through Sunday, after which there will be a cut to the top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team. Those golfers will compete in the final round of stroke play on Monday to determine the individual national champion.

For the first and second rounds, Lang will be paired with two fellow individual qualifiers – Steen Zeman of Long Beach State and Jorge Martin Sampedro of UTRGV. The threesome will begin play on the first tee on Friday at 11:42 a.m. ET, with their second round scheduled to start on Saturday on hole No. 10 at 5:02 p.m. ET. For both the third and final rounds, players will be repaired according to the leaderboard.

Babygrande Golf and Golf Channel will partner this year to provide coverage of the championship. Babygrande will have live streaming coverage available for purchase Friday through Sunday from 3:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. ET and on Monday from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. ET. Golf Channel will pick up the coverage on Monday from 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. ET, televising the conclusion of stroke play.

Lang qualified for the championship by finishing as the top individual on a non-advancing team at the Bermuda Run Regional earlier this month. There, the native of Alvaton, Kentucky tied for fifth at 9-under par, marking his best-ever collegiate finish and lowest 54-hole tournament total. He fired a 64 (-7) in the second round, tying the record for the lowest 18-hole score in program history.

On the season, Lang boasts a 72.13 scoring average across 32 rounds. He started all 11 team events for the Wildcats, racking up four top 20 finishes and 16 rounds at par-or-better. The sophomore has caught form in the postseason, finishing as Kentucky’s top player at both the Southeastern Conference Championship and the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional.
