Wildcats Conclude Second Round of SEC Championship
ST SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Kentucky men’s golf shot 10-over par on Thursday in round two of the Southeastern Conference Championship at Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course (par 70, 7005 yards). The Wildcats remain in 16th place at 15-over par total with one round of stroke play competition still to play.
UK was paced by Jacob Lang and Cole Stockard on day two, who each carded 1-over par rounds of 71. Stockard improved his score by three strokes from day one, once again leading the team with four birdies made. His eight birdies in the tournament rank tied for the 22nd most in the field, with the freshman now tied for 66th at 5-over par. Lang also signed for 1-over on Thursday. The sophomore came home in 1-under par over his final nine holes and is tied for 53rd overall at 1-over par to lead UK. Lang’s 28 pars are tied for the sixth most in the field.
Freshman Cameron Phillips was 1-under par over his first nine holes, but came home in 39 (+4), to post a 3-over par card of 73. Phillips is 4-over for the tournament and tied for 62nd place.
Jacob Settles was the fourth counting score for the Wildcats, signing for a 75 (+5). He is 7-over overall and tied for 75th. Jack Schoenberger recorded a 76 (+6) and is 8-over through 36 holes, tied for 77th.
Auburn leads the tournament at 27-under par as a team. The Tigers’ Jackson Koivun is the individual leader at 12-under par.
The final round of stroke play will take place on Friday before the field is cut to the top eight teams for match play. Kentucky will play alongside Georgia, LSU and Missouri in round three with tee times from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. starting on hole No. 10.
