Kentucky Squares Off Against No. 17 Georgia in SEC Tournament Quarterfinal

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Sixth-seeded Kentucky (12-4-3, 5-2-3 SEC) will continue its run in the 2025 Southeastern Conference Soccer Tournament on Tuesday, meeting third-seeded and No. 17 Georgia (10-3-5, 6-1-3 SEC) in a quarterfinal contest. Action from the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex in Pensacola, Fla. will kick off at 3 p.m. ET on November 4, with the match being televised on SEC Network.

Kentucky advanced to Tuesday’s quarterfinal round with a 1-0 victory over No. 11 seed Florida in the First Round on Sunday afternoon. Senior Catherine Rapp scored the game-winning goal in the 11th minute with assists from Tanner Strickland and Kendall Campbell while the Wildcats recorded their second consecutive shutout. The victory was the first SEC Tournament win for the program since 2014 and the first for the Wildcats under Head Coach Troy Fabiano.

The Wildcats have already improved on another record-breaking season, winning 12 matches, placing fifth in the SEC table, and totaling 18 conference points—all of which are firsts under Fabiano. Kentucky is making its second SEC quarterfinal appearance under Fabiano, advancing to the round in 2023 after a scoreless tie and penalty shootout victory against LSU.

Three Wildcats earned All-SEC honors in 2025, led by junior defender Grace Hoytink with a Second Team nod. Strickland earned a spot on the Third Team while defender Gabi Poretto was named to the All-Freshman Team.

The Cats have been led by a balanced scoring attack, with five players logging double-digit points. Rapp, Anna Sikorski, and Alexis Tylenda are tied for the team lead with 18 points, while Thalia Morisi has added 12 and Tanner Strickland has recorded 11. Sikorski and Tylenda are tied for the team lead with 7 goals while Strickland is best on the team with seven assists.

In goal, freshman Megan Holland recorded her second consecutive shutout in her postseason debut. Holland has gone 330 minutes without allowing a goal from the run of play.

Kentucky and Georgia have already met this season, with the Bulldogs claiming a 1-0 victory in Athens. The Wildcats had an early goal called back for offsides in a match that seemed destined for a scoreless draw until Ava Stack scored from distance in the 79th minute.

The match will mark the seventh time that Kentucky has faced off against a top 25 team, with the Wildcats holding a 3-3 record entering Tuesday. The Cats’ three ranked wins in 2025 is the most for the program since 2006.

Georgia leads the all-time series with the Wildcats, 17-9-1. The teams have met twice in the SEC Tournament, with Georgia holding a 1-0-1 advantage in postseason contests. The two teams met in Kentucky’s most recent trip to the quarterfinals in 2023, with the Bulldogs coming back from an early deficit and red card to win 2-1 on their way to the tournament title.

The winner of Tuesday’s match will advance to the semifinals on Thursday, November 6 at 7 p.m. ET to face the winner of (2) No. 8 Vanderbilt and (10) Alabama.
