Wildcats Tied for Fourth Place at The Landfall Tradition, 18 Holes To Go
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team went 7-over in the second round for a 7-over tournament total at The Landfall Tradition, sitting in a share of fourth place with No. 5 Wake Forest and No. 14 Duke.
Anastasia Hekkonen turned in the lowest round of the lineup at Landfall Country Club in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Saturday, going 1-under-par 71. It marked her first par-or-better round in her last six rounds, while it also marked her fifth par-or-better round through 10 rounds total in 2025-26.
She began the day 2-under through five holes thanks to birdies on the par-4 Nos. 3 and 5. She came out of the front nine even-par after bogeys on Nos. 6 and 9. On the back nine, she collected two more birdies on the par-4 Nos. 10 and 15, sandwiching a bogey in between, to come out at 71 (-1). She is now 5-over through 36 holes and in a tie for 45th place.
Just ahead of her, three Cats are in the top 25 and two Cats are in the top 20 on the individual leaderboard in a talented field.
Cathryn Brown leads the team after pairing a 71 (-1) in the first round with a 73 (+1) in the second round, the next best scorecard of the young lineup Saturday. The junior made the turn 2-over after logging a couple bogeys on the par-4 Nos. 5 and 7 but she made up for them with a couple birdies on the par-5 Nos. 11 and 18, adding only one more bogey at No. 17.
Brown, an Eddyville, Kentucky, native, paces the team on an even-par 144 at the Landfall, sharing 12th place.
Karlie Campbell is just a shot behind her, owning a 1-over tournament total for T17, while C.A. Carter is just a stroke behind her on a 2-over tournament total at T22.
Campbell and Carter, a pair of sophomore roommates, were leading the team after the first round on a pair of 2-under-par 70s. Today, Campbell went 3-over, while Carter went 4-over, capping her round with an eagle on the par-5 No. 18.
Brooke Oberparlieter recorded an 8-over in Saturday’s second round, as the junior sits in a share of 88th place.
The Wildcats are back in action for the final round Sunday – a shotgun format – beginning at 8:45 a.m. ET. Kentucky will be paired with Wake Forest and Duke, teeing off on hole Nos. 4-6.
Heading into the final round, they’re seven strokes from the top three and 11 strokes from the leader in No. 24 North Carolina (-4).
