Kentucky Women’s Golf’s Travels Back to North Carolina for The Landfall Tradition
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team is right back on the road for its fall finale at The Landfall Tradition at the Landfall Country Club in Wilmington, North Carolina, this weekend.
The Wildcats, which are sporting a new lineup for the event, will compete Friday through Sunday, teeing off in the first round at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Kentucky came off the road Sunday, spending just two days at home before traveling back to North Carolina on Wednesday. The lineup does look different this weekend, though, with Brooke Oberparleiter joining the fivesome, which also includes Cathryn Brown, Anastasia Hekkonen, Karlie Campbell and C.A. Carter.
Oberparleither makes what has been a young lineup – and still is – a little bit older as the junior enters her 13th tournament and 36th round tomorrow morning. Through 21 rounds last season, she averaged a 76.0 scoring average and earned as high as a T17 individual finish at the Paradise Invitational.
Oberparleiter and the Cats will take on their largest field of the fall season at Landfall, which includes 18 teams, including six in the Scoreboard powered by Clippd Top 25.
The full field consists of Alabama, No. 14 Duke, Furman, Houston, Illinois, Indiana, No. 18 Kent State, Kentucky, Maryland, NC State, No. 24 North Carolina, Notre Dame, SMU, No. 16 South Carolina, No. 20 UCF, UNCW, Virginia Tech and No. 5 Wake Forest.
Despite putting forth a young lineup, UK has had an imposing fall season thus far, putting together two top-three team finishes and a couple individual titles.
Brown, a junior from Eddyville, Kentucky, is pacing the team on a 71.0 stroke average (-1). If the season ended today, she would tie the second-best scoring average in program history, which was set by fellow Bluegrass girl, Laney Frye, in 2023-24. Brown has the longest active streak of anyone on the team in consecutive rounds counted toward the team total, putting up 12 straight going into Landfall.
Hekkonen isn’t far behind Brown, owning a 72.0 stroke average (E) through eight rounds this fall. The two of them are currently ranked in the Scoreboard powered by Clippd Top 30.
The Wildcats have competed in the Landfall just twice in program history, finishing in 17th place in 2015-16 and in 12th place in 2017-18. In the latter, the Cats played just two rounds because of weather.
Fans are encouraged to follow live scoring throughout the three days here.
