Kentucky Secures Road Point at Ole Miss
OXFORD, Miss. – Kentucky (9-4-2, 3-2-2 SEC) dominated a Friday night contest at Ole Miss (4-6-2, 0-5-2 SEC) but had to settle for a 1-1 draw and a single point in the Southeastern Conference standings. Anna Sikorski equalized the match in the 57th minute with a penalty kick goal, matching Alexis Tylenda for the team lead in goals with seven.
The Wildcats outshot Ole Miss 24-11, including 10-4 in shots on goal, with both Kentucky statistics season highs in conference play. Kentucky also won the possession battle via a 60 percent to 40 split.
Ole Miss was able to control possession out of the kickoff, a rarity in the match. Making her first career SEC start due to Khadijah Cissé call-up to the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, freshman Megan Holland was tested early and came up with a fourth-minute save.
The Wildcats would come to dominate the ball, with Tylenda shooting her first attempt on frame in the 19th minute. The Cats would nearly break the seal on multiple occasions, including forcing a goal line save from an Ole Miss defender in the 27th minute. However, in the 40th minute, a Wildcat turnover and failed clearance would allow Rebel Mila Erceg to shoot a ball on frame and through the hands of Holland to give the home squad a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Out of the break, the Wildcats would continue to dominate the match and push for an equalizer. In the 57th minute, senior Catherine Rapp would find herself with the ball in the box and draw a foul, setting up Kentucky’s nation-leading 10th penalty kick of the season. Sikorski stepped to the spot for the fourth time this season and buried a left footed strike into the bottom right corner to even the match.
Kentucky would push for a second for the remaining 33 minutes of play to no avail, with Ole Miss goalkeeper Sydney O’Billovich earning five of her eight saves in the final half of play.
The Wildcats are winless in their last three matches despite earning road points at Florida and at Ole Miss in that stretch. Kentucky now sits at 11 points in the SEC table and are currently tied for eighth place.
Kentucky will return to Lexington for its final home match of the season, hosting No. 10 South Carolina at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 16. Admission to all 2025 Kentucky Soccer regular season home matches will be free to the public.
