LEXINGTON, Ky. – As announced on Thursday by USA Swimming, Carson Hick has been selected to represent Team USA at the 2025 World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany. Hick is among 20 men and 20 women representing the red, white, and blue on the international swimming stage, and Kentucky is one of 15 collegiate institutions represented on Team USA Swimming.
Hick, the rising junior, now joins Wildcat Avery Giese of USA Diving in representing the University of Kentucky and the United States at the World University Games. Hick was selected to the team to swim the 1500 freestyle, specifically. This was earned by his extremely decisive and powerful swim at the 2025 Toyota USA National competition where Hick finished fourth, behind some of the best in the world, with a personal best and school record time of 15:05.87.
Carson Hick will be joined by other young athletes from around the country on the USA Swimming roster. The American coaching staff includes head Coach Arthur Albiero (Louisville) and assistant coaches from NC State, Florida, Indiana, Texas, and Virginia.
Hick has made a name for himself in the world of swimming as of late and cannot wait to prove why he is among the best names in distance swimming. Both Hick and Giese of Kentucky will both train for the next few weeks before the World University Games, which will take place July 17-23 in Germany.
