
Luke Coyle Wins The Dogwood Invitational
ATLANTA – Luke Coyle, an incoming transfer on the Kentucky men’s golf team, fired a final round 65 on Saturday to win the 2025 Dogwood Invitational held at Druid Hills Golf Club (par 72, 6947 yards). Coyle was 21-under par across the tournament’s four rounds, winning by six shots.
Coyle opened with a 1-under round of 71 on Wednesday but made his move in the second round with a 9-under card of 63. After shooting 68 (-4) in round three, Coyle entered Saturday’s final round two shots off the lead. The native of Campbellsville, Kentucky surged to the top of the leaderboard courtesy of a bogey-free final round which featured five birdies and an eagle on No. 14 (par 5, 512 yards).
The Dogwood Invitational is a high-level amateur event which dates back to 1941. Past champions of the tournament include Webb Simpson, Brian Harman, Hudson Swafford, Ben Kohles and Lloyd Jefferson, while notable pros such as Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar and Brooks Koepka are all former participants.
Coyle played his first two seasons of collegiate golf at the University of Alabama before transferring to Kentucky in May. He attended Taylor County High School where he played on the varsity team beginning in seventh grade. Coyle was named Mr. Golf in the state of Kentucky in back-to-back years in 2021 and 2022 and helped lead his team to consecutive state championships in 2019 and 2020.
Three other current Wildcats participated in the Dogwood Invitational alongside Coyle. Jack Schoenberger finished tied for 10th at 12-under par for the week, while Jacob Lang was T33 at 4-under par. Jacob Settles also teed it up, missing the cut after going 2-over par through 54 holes.
