URBANA, Ill. – Kentucky men’s golf junior Jack Schoenberger wrapped up his NCAA regional debut on Wednesday by finishing in a tie for 34th place at the NCAA Urbana Regional hosted by the University of Illinois at Atkins Golf Club (par 71, 7,533 yards).

Schoenberger finished the tournament at 3-over par with rounds of 74-71-71 for a 54-hole total of 216 which placed him in the top half of the 71 players in the field to complete all 54 holes. The Alpharetta, Georgia native made 13 birdies on the tournament, including six during Wednesday’s final round. The 13 total birdies were tied for the eighth most in the field.

Schoenberger was brilliant on the par 3s all week long, making three birdies to no bogeys to lead the entire field in par 3 scoring average at 2.75.

Michigan’s Hunter Thomson was the regional champion at 10-under par, securing the one available individual qualifying spot to the NCAA National Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa later this month.

With his even-par scores in rounds two and three, Schoenberger finishes his first season in Lexington with a team leading 18 rounds of par-or-better and a 71.97 scoring average across 36 rounds. He ends the year with seven top 20s and four top 10s in his 12 total starts.
