Jack Schoenberger Opens Play at Urbana Regional Monday
URBANA, Ill. – Jack Schoenberger of the Kentucky men’s golf team will make his NCAA regional debut when the Urbana Regional begins on Monday at Atkins Golf Club (par 71, 7,533 yards).
Schoenberger is one of 10 individual qualifiers partaking in the Urbana Regional alongside 13 qualifying teams. The 54-hole event will span Monday through Wednesday, with competitors playing one 18-hole round each day. Five teams, and the low individual competitor on a non-advancing team, will move forward to the 2025 NCAA National Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, May 23-28.
The UK junior will tee off in round one at 11:34 a.m. ET alongside Shane Ochs of Wright State and Hunter Thomson of Michigan. Live scoring will be available through Scoreboard powered by Clippd.
A native of Alpharetta, Georgia, Schoenberger led Kentucky with a 71.97 scoring average this season and 16 rounds of par-or-better. He is currently the No. 134 ranked player in Division I according to Scoreboard powered by Clippd and has seven top 20s in 11 starts this season. Schoenberger played his best golf during the spring season, when his scoring average dropped to 70.94 and he registered four consecutive top 10 finishes, including back-to-back top 5s at the Mason Rudolph Championship and the Mountaineer Invitational.
At the Mason Rudolph Championship, Schoenberger notched a season-best result by tying for fourth. He posted 11-under par to match the sixth best 54-hole score at Kentucky dating back to the 2001-02 season. Schoenberger carded a second round 65 (-6) as a part of that finish, tied for the fourth lowest 18-hole score at Kentucky since 2001-02.
Having spent his first two collegiate seasons at Belmont, Schoenberger owns a 71.58 scoring average for his career and has 24 top 20 finishes to go along with 13 top 10s. He has 53 rounds of par-or-better and was the winner of the 2023 Joe Feagnes Marshall Invite in September of 2023.
