Eleven Kentucky Wildcats won 13 medals at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games – nine gold, two silver and two bronze.
Wildcats are credited with nine medals to the Team USA world-leading medal count, including seven golds (team medals count as one medal, e.g. one gold for the three Wildcats who were on the Team USA men’s basketball team and two who were on the women’s 4x400m relay).
Five Wildcats won six medals in athletics/track and field, four medaled in basketball, one medaled in volleyball and one won two medals in fencing.

Wildcats Win Six Gold Medals on Final Saturday of Paris Olympic Games
Masai Russell Wins Olympic Gold in 100m Hurdles, Holmes, McLaughlin-Levrone Win Gold in 4x400m Relay
STADE DE FRANCE (Aug. 10) – On the final day of track and field competition at the Paris Olympic Games, Kentucky Track and Field athletes won four medals, including three gold, bringing the week’s overall haul to a program-best six medals.
Masai Russell took home the gold medal in the 100m hurdles in a dramatic photo finish. In the same event, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, the gold medalist from Tokyo, secured the bronze. This is the second consecutive Olympics in which the gold medalist in the 100m hurdles has come from Kentucky, as well as the second straight Olympics in which two Wildcats have finished on the podium in that event.
In the women’s 4x400m relay, Wildcats made up fifty percent of the gold medal-winning – and American record-setting – squad. Alexis Holmes earned her first career Olympic medal, while Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone picked up her second gold of the Games and fourth of her career. The American team posted a time of 3:15.27, the second fastest time in history and one-tenth of a second from the World Record. McLaughlin-Levrone ran the second leg of the race and gave the USA a lead they would never relinquish. Holmes ran the anchor leg and crossed the line over thirty meters before the silver-medal winning Dutch team. Both McLaughlin-Levrone and Holmes won SEC titles in the 4x400m relay while at Kentucky. Holmes also won an NCAA title in the event in 2022.
Team USA, Wildcats Adebayo, Booker, Davis Win Men’s Basketball Gold Medal
BERCY ARENA (Aug. 10) – Kentucky Men’s Basketball Legends Bam Adebayo, Devin Booker and Anthony Davis and Team USA won the Gold Medal Game against host nation France on Saturday.
Each of the trio of Wildcat Olympians won gold for the second time in their careers.
Davis won gold in 2012, the same year he led Kentucky to the NCAA National Championship and was the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. He became the only player on Team USA to have won two Olympic Gold Medals an NCAA and NBA Championship.
Booker and Adebayo won their second golds as well having been on Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics.
Friday, August 9
Holmes Sixth in 400m Final, Three Wildcat Hurdlers Into 100H final, Vincent 11th in 3M Springboard
Alexis Holmes Sixth in Olympic 400m, Three Hurdlers Advance to Final
STADE de FRANCE (Aug. 9) – Alexis Holmes ran a personal best time of 49.77 seconds in the 400m Olympic final at a rainy Stade de France, finishing sixth among a world-class field. Additionally, three Kentucky athletes – Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Masai Russell, and Devynne Charlton (Volunteer Assistant Coach/Purdue Alum)—advanced out of the semifinal round of the 100m hurdles and will race for gold on Saturday.
Hautau, Vincent 11th in 3m Springboard Final
PARIS AQUATICS CENTRE (Aug. 9) – UK Diving Coach Ted Hautau, South Africa’s Diving Coach at the Olympics, coached Julia Vincent, a UK Assistant Coach the past few years to the final in the Women’s 3m Springboard. Vincent placed 11th.
Thursday, August 8
McLaughlin-Levrone, Roberts Are Hurdle U Medalists, Team USA MBB and VB Advance to Gold Medal Games, Hautau and Vincent Advance to Final
Two Medals for Kentucky Track and Field Legends McLaughlin-Levrone and Roberts
STADE DE FRANCE (Aug. 8) – Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Daniel Roberts each picked up Olympic medals within minutes of each other.
McLaughlin-Levrone defended her Olympic gold medal in the 400m hurdles from Tokyo, winning the race in a world record time of 50.37 seconds.
Roberts picked up his first career Olympic medal, a silver, in the 110m hurdles, finishing second in a time of 13.09 seconds.
Kentucky signee Tapiwanashe Makarawu, representing Zimbabwe, also raced in an Olympic final on Thursday, finishing sixth in the 200m.
Skinner, Team USA Advance to Volleyball Gold Medal Match
SOUTH PARIS ARENA (Aug. 8) – Kentucky legend Avery Skinner and Team USA advanced to the gold medal match defeating Brazil, 3-2. Skinner had 15 kills and three blocks.
The final will be Sunday, Aug. 11 vs. either Turkey or Italy at 7am ET on NBC and Peacock.Hautau, Vincent Qualify for 3m Springboard Final
PARIS AQUATICS CENTRE (Aug. 8) – UK Diving Coach Ted Hautau, who is South Africa’s Diving Coach at the Olympic Games, coached Julia Vincent, a UK Assistant Coach the past few seasons, to qualification for the final in the Women’s 3m Springboard. Vincent qualified sixth with a score of 297.30Q.
The final is Friday, Aug. 9 at 9 a.m. ET

STADE DE FRANCE (Aug. 7) – Six UKTF athletes advanced to their next respective round on Wednesday at the Olympic Games, including a trio of Cats who booked their spot into a first career Olympic final. Alumni Daniel Roberts and Alexis Holmes moved into the finals of the 110m hurdles and 400m, respectively, while incoming Wildcat Tapiwanashe Makarawu qualified for the final of the 200m. Kentucky’s trio of short hurdlers, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Masai Russell, and Devynne Chalton (Volunteer Assistant Coach/Purdue Alum) moved into the semifinals of the 100m hurdles.
Hautau and Vincent Advance to 3m Springboard Semifinal
PARIS AQUATIC CENTRE (Aug. 7) – UK Diving Coach Ted Hautau, who is South Africa’s Diving Coach at the Olympic Games, coached Julia Vincent, a UK Assistant Coach the past few seasons, to qualification for the semifinal in the Women’s 3m Springboard.
The Semifinal is Thursday, Aug. 8 at 4 a.m. ET.
Adebola Adeyeye, Team Nigeria’s Olympic 5×5 WBB Run Ends in Quarterfinals
BERCY ARENA (Aug. 7) – KentuckyWBB alumna Adebola Adeyeye and Team Nigeria WBB 5×5’s Olympic run came to a close against Team USA.
Tuesday, Aug. 6 – Skinner, McLaughlin-Levrone, Adebayo, Booker and Davis All Advance on Tuesday in Paris
Kentucky Wildcats in Volleyball, Athletics/Track and Field and Basketball Advanced to the semifinal round of their respective competitions on Tuesday at the Olympic Games.
Team USA MBB, Adebayo, Booker Advance to Semifinals
(Aug. 6) Devin Booker led Team USA with 18 points, Anthony Davis added 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench and Bam Adebayo had nine points and seven rebounds as the USA Basketball Team defeated Brazil, 122-87, in the Olympic Quarterfinal.
Team USA will play Serbia in the Semifinal on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 3 p.m. ET.
Host Team France defeated the Canadian Team that featured Kentucky Alumni Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jamal Murray and Trey Lyles in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Avery Skinner, Team USA Advance to Volleyball Medal Round
(Aug. 6) – Kentucky Volleyball Alumna Avery Skinner and Team USA defeated Poland in a 3-0 sweep in the quarterfinals of the women’s volleyball tournament.
The U.S. will face world No. 1 Brazil, in Thursday’s semifinals. The semis will be a replay of the gold medal match in Tokyo.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Advances to Olympic Final in 400m Hurdles
STADE DE FRANCE (Aug. 6) – Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone won her semifinal heat of the 400m hurdles at the Olympic Games on Tuesday, qualifying the Tokyo 2020 gold medalist to Thursday’s final. The fastest women in history across the 400-meter hurdles was the top qualifier across three semifinal heats at the Stade de France, posting a winning time of 52.13. McLaughlin-Levrone will race again on Thursday, August 8, contesting the Olympic final at 3:25 ET with coverage on NBC and Peacock.
Monday, Aug. 5 – Howard Strikes Gold, Holmes Advances in Olympic Debut
Kentucky WBB Class of 2022 Rhyne Howard wins Bronze at 2024 Paris Olympic Games
PARIS (August 5, 2024) — Rhyne Howard and the USA Basketball 3×3 Women’s National Team clinched the bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, defeating Canada 16-13.
Alexis Holmes Makes Olympic Debut, Advances to 400m Semifinal
Stade de France (Monday, Aug. 5) – Two more Kentucky Track and Field alumni took part in their first competitive events in Paris on Monday, as Alexis Holmes ran her first race on an Olympic track while Andrew Evans entered an Olympic discus ring for the second time in his career. Holmes finished second in her 400m heat to advance to Wednesday’s semifinal. Evans ended discus qualification in 17th place and did not advance to the Olympic final.

Team USA and Team Canada MBB Advance to the Knockout Round
Wildcats Bam Adebayo, Devin Booker and Anthony Davis improved to 3-0 at the Olympics with USA Basketball, advancing to the Knockout Rounds as the Top Seed.
Team Canada, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and featuring Jamal Murray and Trey Lyles also went 3-0 in Group Play to advance to the Knockout Round atop its Group.
The history-making South Sudan Men’s Basketball 5×5 team and Wenyen Gabriel narrowly missed a spot in the knockout rounds.

Aug. 4 – Rhyne Howard and Team USA Women’s Basketball 3×3 advanced to the Medal Round with a run of five-straight wins.

Rhyne Howard Leads Team USA 3×3, Lee Kiefer wins Second Gold of Paris Games
Lee Kiefer Wins Second Gold of Paris Games, Third Olympic Gold of Record-Setting Career
Aug, 1 – Lee Kiefer, a University of Kentucky College of Medicine Student who competed collegiately for Notre Dame, won her second gold medal of the Paris Olympic Games, this time in Team Foil.
Kiefer became the first American fencer to win three Olympic gold medals as the U.S. got its first team fencing gold in women’s foil at the Paris Olympics on Thursday.
Kiefer, a two-time individual gold medalist, teamed up with individual silver medalist Lauren Scruggs, Jacqueline Dubrovich and Maia Weintraub to hold on for a 45-39 win over Italy in the final.
“This team medal is everything,” Kiefer told a news service. “Our team has been kind of locked in, putting in so much work and passion for the last three years. And to be able to show that to everyone is really cool.”

Meinhardt previously won bronze medals in 2016 and 2020 as part of the men’s foil team.
