UKTF Looking to Capitalize at Home During NCAA East First Rounds
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Track and Field program is set to host the NCAA Division I East First Rounds at the Outdoor Track and Field Facility from Wednesday, May 22 through Saturday, May 25, and hope their home advantage will lead to individual success for the squad.
Thirty Wildcats, 16 men and 14 women will compete for an NCAA Championships berth. Freshman record breaker Ed Bird was a late addition for the men to the 5,000 meters due to medical scratches to other participating programs.
The men will compete on Wednesday and Friday while the women compete on Thursday and Saturday.
The East First Rounds will feature the top 48 student-athletes in the eastern region in each event with the top 12 in each event qualifying for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The rules are the same for the Western preliminaries: the top 12 move on to Eugene.
Live results can be found here and the event will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Meet information including schedule of events, and parking can be found here.
Tickets are still available for purchase for the event and can be purchased here.
UKTF begins Wednesday’s competition with the men’s hammer throw at 10 a.m. ET with the running events starting at 6 p.m. ET with the 110-meter hurdles. Thursday’s schedule is similar for the women’s events.
