Kenny Brooks Has Hired Tim Clark as Special Assistant, Chief of Staff
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Tim Clark, former Virginia Tech women’s basketball senior director and chief of staff, has been hired as the University of Kentucky women’s basketball special assistant and chief of staff, it was announced by head coach Kenny Brooks on Tuesday.

Clark arrives in Lexington after serving on Brooks’ staffs for 19 seasons, including 11 years at James Madison and eight years at Virginia Tech.
He is coming off two seasons as the senior director and chief of staff at Virginia Tech (2022-23, 2023-24) after being elevated from the program’s director of operations (2017-22).
In Blacksburg, Clark assisted the coaching staff by directing all day-to-day operations, game schedule prospecting, contract management, coordinating team travel logistics, overseeing the program’s budget and serving as a liaison to the Hokie Hardwood Club and several other departments within the athletic department and university.
During his tenure with the Hokies, Clark served as the team administrator for all seven of their postseason appearances, including four at the NCAA Tournament and three at the Women’s National Invitation Tournament. That included being the point of contact for the their Final Four appearance in Dallas in 2023, after their Seattle Regional Championship run, managing team travel logistics and administrative communication duties for a travel party of more than 200.
In Harrisonburg, Clark had a variety of roles under Brooks at JMU, including being a student manager (2006-09), graduate assistant (2009-10) and director of operations (2011-16).
Altogether, he was a part of a combined eight Colonial Athletic Association titles, two Atlantic Coast Conference titles and has participated in all 18 postseasons that one has been held since his first season under Brooks in 2005-06.
Clark also completed an internship and coaching education practicum with the Dukes’ women’s basketball program in 2008.
Clark received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sport & recreation management from JMU in 2009. He then completed his master’s in kinesiology with a concentration in sport & recreation leadership at JMU in 2011.
