Kentucky STUNT Tops UT Martin in National Tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky STUNT team opened the 2024 Division I STUNT nationals with a 24-0 win over UT Martin on Saturday at the Clive M. Beck Center. The win was Kentucky’s first in postseason history.

In STUNT, 24 points is the maximum a team can score in a game. Kentucky scored 24 points for the second time this season and just the third time in school history.

Also in STUNT, a 24-0 score is known as a perfect game. Saturday’s win was just the second time in Kentucky program history that the Cats have completed a perfect game. The previous occasion came on March 11, 2023, when Kentucky beat Tiffin 24-0 inside Memorial Coliseum.

Kentucky (18-6) took control of the game early and never looked back. In the first quarter, partner stunts, the Cats earned all four points while holding the Skyhawks scoreless.

In the second quarter, pyramids and tosses, UK would extend its lead. Kentucky again earned all four points in the period, while holding UT Martin scoreless. The Cats would lead 8-0 at halftime.

The third quarter, jumps and tumbling, was also dominated by the Cats. Kentucky was able to again score all four points while holding UTM scoreless. UK would take a 12-0 lead into the final period.

Kentucky finished off its perfect game by winning all 12 points in the final period, team routine, while again holding the Skyhawks without a point.

The Cats return to action on Saturday at 2:45, facing three-time defending national champion California Baptist. The game will be played at Transylvania University’s Clive M. Beck Center.
