STATESBORO, Ga. – A 3-under par 69 from junior Jansen Preston highlighted play at the Schenkel Invitational for Kentucky men’s golf on Saturday, as the Wildcats posted a 2-under team total at Forest Heights Country Club (par 72, 7,123 yards) in round two of the 54-hole event.

Through 36 holes, Kentucky finds itself in eighth place as a team with a 9-under total of 567. Both Preston and Alex Goff are in the top 20 individually, with the pair tied for 16th in the 84-golfer field at 4-under par. Oakley Gee (T-41, E), Kevin Watts (T-62, +4) and Campbell Kremer (T-69, +5) round out the UK lineup, while Jackson Lalonde, playing as an individual, is T-53 at 2-over.

Florida leads the tournament at 22-under par, while the Gators’ Parker Bell is currently the low individual at 10-under.

Preston made just two bogeys to five birdies on Saturday to finish with his lowest round relative to par as a Wildcat. It also marked the fourth-straight outing in red figures for the Vanderbilt transfer, dating back to last month’s Gators Invitational.

Goff went out in 2-under par 34 on his front nine on his way to an even-par score of 72, his sixth round of par-or-better in seven tries this spring. The graduate birdied both No. 6 (par 3, 130 yards) and No. 7 (par 5, 549 yards) on his opening nine, before adding a third birdie on No. 17 (par 4, 438 yards).

It was a bounce back day for senior Campbell Kremer who turned in an even-par effort in round two, five shots better than his opening round score. After starting the day 3-over through his first two holes, Kremer played his final 16 in 3-under par with birdies on No. 3 (par 3, 170 yards), No. 7 (par 5, 549 yards), No. 9 (par 5, 526 yards) and No. 12 (par 5, 540 yards).

UK’s final counting score for the day was posted by Gee who made four birdies, including three in a five-hole stretch around the turn, on his way to a round of 73 (+1).

Watts was 5-over par on his day playing in the fifth spot for the Wildcats, while Lalonde, an individual entry, made 15 pars and three bogeys for a 3-over score of 75.

The Schenkel Invitational will conclude tomorrow with the third and final round beginning at 8:30 a.m. Kentucky will be paired with Florida Gulf Coast and South Carolina off hole No. 1. Live results can be found on Golfstat.
