Gymnastics Takes on Nashville for Inaugural Kidney Care Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Championships
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 6 Kentucky gymnastics (8-4, 4-3 SEC) will travel to Nashville, Tenn. for the inaugural Kidney Care Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Championships held at Memorial Auditorium.
The Cats will face No. 14 Auburn (8-8, 2-5 SEC), No. 15 Ohio State (6-2, 4-1 B1G), and Fisk University (0-7) in the second session of the meet at 8:15 p.m. EST. Session I will feature Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, Pitt and Talladega at 1:30 p.m.
Kentucky is coming off a victory at UNC tying its top program road score of 197.800. Fifth-year senior and AAI Award finalist Raena Worley scored her fourth perfect 10.0 on floor to earn her 25th individual win on the event. She also earned her 28th all-around title, 11th vault individual win and 14th individual victory on beam.
In addition to Worley’s strong appearance in Chapel Hill, N.C., senior Isabella Magnelli earned her fifth win on vault with a 9.875 and eighth title on balance beam with a 9.950. Freshman Delaynee Rodriguez earned her first career win on the uneven bars with a new career and season high 9.950 performance.
SEC opponent Auburn enters Saturday’s competition after a second-place finish and 197.050 at the 2024 Podium Challenge against LSU (198.425), George Washington (195.100) and Texas Women’s University (194.725). Ohio State is coming off a 197.125-196.450 win over BYU while Fisk posted a third-place finish and 192.925 at the Michigan State Quad Meet featuring MSU (198.150), Central Michigan (196.425) and Greenville (189.750).
