Kentucky Faces Georgia on the Road on SEC Network on Sunday

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program will face Georgia at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Georgia, on Sunday, Feb. 4 at noon ET. 

The game will be broadcast on SEC Network, with Eric Frede and Christy Thomaskutty on the call. Big Blue Nation also can listen in to the play-by-play on UK Sports Network and / or 630 AM WLAP (locally), with the Voice of the Wildcats, Darren Headrick on the mic.

Kentucky is 9-13 this season, including 0-6 in road games and 2-6 in the Southeastern Conference. The Wildcats are averaging 67.0 points per game in conference action, with three players putting up double-digit scoring, including Eniya Russell (12.1), Maddie Scherr (12.0) and Ajae Petty (11.5). Russell, a senior from Baltimore, Maryland, has scored in double digits for the past four straight games, a stretch that includes leading the team in scoring with a pair of 20-point games. Petty continues to lead the team in rebounding, grabbing 12.8 rebounds per game in conference action, while the senior is coming off her 12th double-double of the season (10 pts, 11 rbs) against Mississippi State on Feb. 1.

In that game, the Wildcats took the Bulldogs to overtime, where the Cats would end up losing by just three points, 77-74.

Georgia, who is coming off a loss to Tennessee, 95-73, at home last Sunday, is 10-11 on the season, including 6-5 in home games and 1-7 in the SEC. Georgia’s lone win in conference action was against Texas A&M, 54-50, in its league opener at home on Jan. 4.

The Bulldogs are averaging 65.2 points per game, with leading scorer and rebounder Javyn Nicholson putting up 15.0 points per game and grabbing 8.8 rebounds per game. She has had 11 double-doubles this season, one shy of Petty’s collection. Meanwhile, the Dogs are ranked fourth in the league in bench points with 21.3 coming from the sideline.

Kentucky trails the all-time series against Georgia, 40-22, and in Athens, 18-8. The last time UK defeated UGA in Athens was on Feb. 25, 2021, 62-58.
