Casper Mols and Max Miller Earn Weekly Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s soccer sophomores Casper Mols and Max Miller have earned weekly awards from College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer.

Wildcat goalkeeper, Casper Mols, was named to the College Soccer News Men’s National Team of the Week after recording eight saves on Friday evening to shut out previously undefeated No. 2 West Virginia, 1-0. The last time the Mountaineers faced defeat was in the semifinal round of the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Tournament where Kentucky beat West Virginia 3-0 with Mols in the net. Mols was also named an honorable mention on TopDrawerSoccer’s Men’s Team of the Week.

“Mols is an extremely talented keeper to have in the net,” said assistant coach Ryan Hulings. “His anticipation of shots, quickness, and communication with his teammates makes him a great asset for us. His performance against West Virginia was nothing short of excellent.”

Fellow sophomore, Max Miller, was named to this week’s TopDrawerSoccer Men’s Team of the Week. The honor is the Lexington native’s first of the season. Miller came in clutch with an assist to freshman Alfred Baafi in the 32nd minute of the contest to secure Friday’s victory. The defender leads the 2023 squad in assists with a total of six.

“Max has really stepped up as a leader this season and that was very apparent against West Virginia last Friday,” said associate head coach Ryan Zinkhan. “His consistency and composure on the back line positions him well against an opposing offense. We have been very pleased with his performances this season.”

Kentucky is unbeaten in its last six games (2-0-4) to improve to 5-6-4 with a 2-3-3 mark in conference play. The Wildcats conclude regular season play with a game on the road this evening against Georgia Southern.
