Mason Visconti and Aboubacar Camara Score to Draw Georgia State, 2-2

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s soccer (3-6-4, 0-3-3 Sun Belt) found two goals in the second half to tie Georgia State (5-4-5, 2-2-2 Sun Belt) 2-2 in a midweek matchup at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex.

The Wildcats broke a 2-Nil deficit with a score by Mason Visconti and a late goal by Aboubacar Camara to earn the fourth consecutive draw and third Sun Belt Conference point of the season.

In the first 45 minutes of regulation, Kentucky out-shot Georgia State seven to two. Nearing the halftime break, the Panthers’ Simon Carlson scored after a GSU throw in.

Throughout the second half of the match, Kentucky fought hard for a result which was evident as the Cats recorded 11 shots to the Panthers’ two.

In the 55’ Georgia State doubled its halftime score putting the Wildcats down by two. The second Panther goal was scored by Ethan Sassine.

However, redshirt fifth-year senior Mason Visconti answered as he broke away from the GSU defenders for a beautiful left-footed strike into the bottom right of the goal. His unassisted score finally put UK on the board in the 56’ to break the two-goal deficit.

Only down by one, the Cats continued to rally looking for a second goal to tie up the match. It was late in the half that senior Aboubacar Camara did just that. Freshman Josh Gordon threaded the needle to send the ball to Isaiah Chisolm who broke free. His passing assist to Camara’s right foot helped earn the Cats the second goal of the night.

The Wildcats and Panthers have now faced off three times in program history improving the all-time series record to 2-0-1 (UK).

Kentucky will now look to Sunday where it will face No. 1 Marshall in Huntington, W.Va.
