Day Two Results

MOUNTAIN BROOK, Alabama – The Kentucky men’s golf team finished the stroke-play portion of SEC Match Play in 13th place Tuesday afternoon at the Country Club of Birmingham West Course. The Cats dropped one spot from Monday after an 8-over-par 292 team score in the final round.

Kentucky will take on South Carolina in match play starting at 10:10 a.m. ET Wednesday.

Graduate Alex Goff fired his third-consecutive under-par round of the tournament, carding a final-round 2-under-par 69 to tie for sixth. Starting on the 10th hole, Goff made par on his first six holes before recording a double-bogey on the par-4 16th and a birdie on the par-4 18th for an opening 37. The Kings Mountain, North Carolina, native then birdied the third, fifth and seventh holes on a bogey-free second nine on his way to his 12th-career top-10 finish and 23rd in the top 20.

Junior Jansen Preston and redshirt freshman Solomon Petrie each finished in a tie for 52nd at 5-over-par. Preston carded three birdies, three bogeys and a double-bogey on his way to a 2-over-par 73 in the final round while Petrie, who entered the day at 1-under, carded a 6-over 77 with a birdie, five bogeys and a double-bogey.

Freshman Michael Hake put together his best round of the week, carding a final-round 2-over 73 with a birdie and three bogeys to finish 66th, while senior Campbell Kremer rounded out the Wildcat lineup in a tie for 68th, recording two birdies, four bogeys, a double and a triple for a 7-over 78.

Goff’s 40 pars tied for fourth in the 70-competitor field while Hake tallied one fewer with 39.
