Ryan Hagenow Named to Midseason Stopper of Year Watch List

Kentucky junior pitcher Ryan Hagenow has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year midseason watch list. The right-hander has allowed just two runs and owns a 1.04 earned run average in 17.1 innings pitched this season.

Hagenow, from Knoxville, Tennessee, is 2-0 with one save and has allowed a miniscule seven hits the entire season. He has struck out 24 batters, walked just six and held opponents to a .117 batting average in 14 appearances. He did not allow a run through his first 12 appearances and the only team to score on him was top-ranked LSU in Baton Rouge.

Hagenow is just shy of qualifying for the UK career records book (he needs four innings to qualify), but ranks fourth on UK’s career strikeouts/nine innings chart for pitchers with at least 50 innings pitched.
