Team Records and Series Notes

  • Kentucky is 8-4, 1-1 in the SEC this season, while South Carolina is 15-1, 3-1 in the SEC.    
    • This was the 70th all-time meeting between the two programs in women’s basketball.
    • USC leads the all-time series 36-34, including a 21-11 mark in games played in Columbia.
    • South Carolina has won 14 of the last 15 meetings.
  • Kentucky is in its 48th season with a 871-561 (.608) all-time record.
  • Kyra Elzy is in her second season as the head coach of the Wildcats, holding a 26-13 overall record.

  • Kentucky used the starting combination of senior guards Jazmine Massengill and Rhyne Howard, redshirt junior forward Dre’una Edwards, sophomore wing Treasure Hunt and freshman guard Jada Walker.
    • This is the third time UK has used this starting combination this season.
      • UK is 2-1 with this starting combination.
    • Rhyne Howard scored first for Kentucky in the game. It was the fourth time this season she has scored first.
    • Robyn Benton was the first sub for Kentucky. It was the second time she has been the first Wildcat off the bench.
    • South Carolina won the opening tip. It was the fifth time that UK has lost the opening tip.
  • Kentucky led 13-11 at the first media timeout of the game thanks to hitting three 3s in the opening minutes of the game.
    • UK also led 8-5 in rebounding in the first five minutes.
  • The game was tied 18-18 at the end of the first quarter as UK led 13-12 in total rebounds and 11-2 in second-chance points.
  • South Carolina started the second quarter on a 6-0 run scoring all six points in the paint. The run gave the Gamecocks a 24-18 lead with 7:21 to go in the half and forced a UK timeout.
