Kentucky STUNT Completes Perfect Weekend in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – The Kentucky STUNT team completed a successful weekend at the Missouri Baptist Tournament, winning two more games on Saturday to finish off a perfect 4-0 weekend.

The Cats beat Maryville University 13-10 in the first game of the day, then thumped Arizona State

Kentucky (7-5) opened Saturday’s play facing Maryville, the same team the Cats beat in Friday evening’s nightcap. And, just like Friday’s contest, Saturday’s game was close throughout.

In the first quarter, the Cats lost the first point but won the next three to take a 3-1 lead. However, Maryville rebounded with a big second quarter, taking all four points and holding a 5-3 advantage at the half.

Kentucky fought back in the third period, claiming four points to just one for Maryville, giving the Cats a 7-6 lead with one quarter to play. And in the final stanza, the Cats sealed the win with six points compared to just four for Maryville, resulting in a 13-10 UK victory.

In the second game of the day, the Cats faced Arizona State. The Sun Devils claimed the first point of the game but UK rallied to lead 3-2 after the first quarter. The Cats extended the lead by winning all four points in the second half, taking a 7-2 lead into the break.

Kentucky poured it on in the third quarter, winning all four points and growing the lead to 11-2. Then in the fourth quarter, UK finished off an impressive performance, once again winning all three points to complete the 20-2 victory. The 20 points matched the most points in school history and the 18-point margin of victory is the biggest in UK history.
