Kentucky STUNT Hosts Ashland for Doubleheader on Saturday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky STUNT team will host varsity competition for the first time on Saturday, as the Cats take on Ashland University in a doubleheader at Memorial Coliseum.
Doors open at 10:00 a.m. and game one will begin at 11:00 a.m., with game two of the twin bill set to start around noon ET. Admission is free and fans should enter on the Lexington Avenue side of Memorial Coliseum.
STUNT is a head-to-head competition between two teams that focuses on the technical and athletic aspects of cheer. It is one of the fastest-growing female sports in the United States. Kentucky is one of 56 universities, including NCAA and NAIA varsity and club teams, that are sponsoring the sport for the 2022 season. Nine more schools are committed to begin in 2023.
Interim head coach Blair Bergmann and his squad are in their first season of competition. Saturday’s games are the only home games of the season.
Fans are reminded that the UK Athletics Clear Bag Policy will be in effect for this game. Also, as of March 9, masks will be optional during voluntary events, such as UK Athletics competitions. While masks may be optional, people may continue to want this added layer of protection. That choice should be respected as should the choice to not wear a mask in a space where it is optional.
