No. 13 Kentucky to Open 2022 Season at No. 12 Arizona State
TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 13 Kentucky Wildcats are set to kick off the 2022 gymnastics season on the road against the No. 12 Arizona State Sun Devils on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET.
The digital broadcast will be produced by Arizona State on Pac-12 Plus.
Kentucky returns all 24 routines from last year’s season finale that tied the program’s all-time scoring record with a 197.600 performance in the 2021 NCAA Salt Lake City Regional final. Arizona State’s 2021 campaign ended with an identical score in the same round-of-16 postseason quad meet, while host Utah (197.925) and LSU (197.750) advanced to the NCAA Championship semifinals.
The Wildcats are led into the new year by junior all-arounder Raena Worley, a reigning second-team Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association Regular Season All-American. Kentucky also returns fellow All-Southeastern Conference honorees Josie Angeny, Bailey Bunn, Anna Haigis and Arianna Patterson.
Kentucky landed at No. 11 in the final 2021 Road to Nationals All-Around Team National Standings after being ranked inside the top 15 all season. Arizona State earned its best finish since 2006 with a No. 9 final standing.
