Kentucky Hosts Tennessee Tech in Final Home Game

by UK Athletics Communications and PR

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky’s final home game of the season comes Tuesday night as the Wildcats host Tennessee Tech at Kentucky Proud Park. It will be the swan song in Lexington for seniors T.J. Collett, Zach Kammin, Zeke Lewis and Jaren Shelby, all of whom have exhausted their collegiate eligibility.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET and the game will be streamed live on the SEC Network Plus and the WatchESPN app. The UK Sports Network will broadcast the game via radio on 630 AM (WLAP) Lexington and on UKAthletics.com, with Darren Headrick on the call. Dick Gabriel and Doug Flynn have the live stream call.

The Wildcats (27-20, 11-16 SEC) are coming off a disappointing weekend that saw them swept by No. 20 South Carolina. The Cats fell behind early in all three games, leaving themselves too much work to do as they attempted to mount comeback bids. The matchup with the Golden Eagles on Tuesday gives them an opportunity to get back in the win column and create positive momentum heading into a road matchup with No. 2 Vanderbilt that opens Thursday night in Nashville.

Fans encouraged to #VoteTJ for Senior CLASS Award
Kentucky senior first baseman T.J. Collett has been named one of 10 finalists for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award for baseball and fans are encouraged to #VoteTJ as part of the selection process. The award honors seniors who excel both on and off the field of play.

Collett, from Terre Haute, Indiana, has exemplified Kentucky baseball’s core values of being a student, person and player through his talent on the field and commitment to the betterment of others off it.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

The 10 finalists have been placed on ballots that will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four C’s of community, classroom, character and competition. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2021 College World Series® in June. Fans are encouraged to vote for their choice on www.seniorCLASSaward.com as well.
